#Believers Protection Committee
In furtherance of the recommendation made by the Member of Law and Justice Society in a legal awareness program held on 25.09.2024 at CNI St. James Church Vikasnagar Dehradun, a special committee - “BPC" (Believers Protection Committee) has been constituted vide office notification no. LJS/OR/134/2024 dated 03.10.2024 to address the various legal issues and social challenges that the Christian Community and its believers are facing due to the unlawful acts of some sectarians in India and It was further recommended to the Law and Justice Society that the issues concerns with a larger community of Christians and their Believers and Hence, Law and Justice Society should provide expert legal aid to the community and its believers to ensure to protect and uphold their legal and social rights in accordance with the law and an integrated electronic platform be launched to receive, review and process such requests and wherein the affected believers/community members can approach Law and Justice Society for seeking expert legal aid for appropriate remedy and resultantly, the community and its believers can approach their jurisdictional High Courts or Hon'ble Supreme Court for appropriate relief through expert legal aid of Law and Justice Society and/or through any person or institution so authorized in this behalf by Law and Justice Society.
The committee will act on a ‘pro bono’ basis and adhere to the guidelines of the Law and Justice Society. The committee will mainly focus on resolving the problem of “persecution” along with other significant issues related to the community and its believers. It is further clarified that all these issues in question will be addressed in accordance with the prevalent laws and in light of the judicial principles laid down by the Hon’ble Supreme Court from time to time and decided that Law and Justice Society and/or any person or institution so authorized in this behalf by Law and Justice Society will officially communicate with the Government Authorities and Constitutional Forums and all concerned to support the community and its believers and will help to resolve the issues in question for and on behalf of the community and its believers and according to the procedure and guidelines mandated therein and further provided that any application fee, government fees, court fees, paperbook charges, other misc. charges n.e.c. and any other necessary and official charges shall be payable by the requester/affected person/applicant through an integrated electronic platform connected through the Nyaya-Saarthi Program.
